Why the company name differs from the brand name

PutraLoan is a trading name. The company that holds the licence — and whose name appears on the agreement you sign — is Putra Berjaya Sdn Bhd. If you are checking the KPKT register, search for that company name, not "PutraLoan".

This is normal and lawful — plenty of businesses trade under a name other than their registered one. It is spelled out here because if you did not know it, searching the KPKT register for "PutraLoan" would look as though we do not exist.

Putra Berjaya Sdn Bhd is registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia under number 198501012800. The leading digits of an SSM registration number give the year of incorporation — in this case, 1985.

How to check for yourself

  1. Note the company name

Search for Putra Berjaya Sdn Bhd, not "PutraLoan".

  2. Go to KPKT

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government oversees moneylender licensing at kpkt.gov.my.

  3. Match the licence number

Ours is WL6146/14/01-5/151027, valid from 1/07/2026 to 1/07/2027.

  4. Check the advertising permit

The advertising permit is a separate document. Ours is WP3741/01/20-7/228313.

How to spot an impostor

  • We never ask for an upfront payment, processing fee or "security deposit" before financing is released.
  • We never ask for your PIN, online banking password, or TAC code.
  • We never pay into a third-party account — only a bank account in your own name.
  • We never ask you to hand your physical MyKad or bank card to anyone.

A request for upfront payment is the clearest warning sign there is. A licensed moneylender takes its cost out of the financing itself, not from a payment before it is released.

We only make contact through the channels below and by email at [email protected]. Any other account or number using the PutraLoan name is not ours.

If you come across an account or number impersonating us, email [email protected] with whatever details you have, so we can warn others. Lending scams can also be reported to KPKT and to the police.
